SUN ENTERPRISE 4000 -- MIDRANGE DESKSIDE SERVER







The Sun Enterprise 4000 consists of a chassis that support up to eight system boards, four power supplies and a maximum of four disk boards.

The Enterprise 4000 requires a minimum of one I/O board and accepts a maximum of seven CPU boards. All components are hot-swappable.

The Enterprise 4000 SunFire Server can be installed as a desktop system or rack-mounted in an Enterprise cabinet.

CPU options:
Single or dual plug-able processor modules on each CPU/Memory board.
167 MHz with 0.5 MB cache
250 MHz with 1 MB cache
250 MHz with 4 MB cache
336 MHz with 4 MB cache


Operating System options:
Solaris 2.5.1 or later


Expansion options:
SBUS I/O board: Three SBUS slots

PCI I/O board: Two PCI slots

Graphics I/O: Two SBUS slots and one UPA Slot


Disk Bus options:
Fast Wide SCSI, Optical


Memory options:
Sixteen memory slots on each CPU/Memory board , 4 GB max in 32 MB, 128, or 256 MB SIMMS.


Disk options:
All internal disks must go on disk expansion cards. Up to two 9GB fast wide SCSI-2 disks can go on each system disk card. Each disk card will take up one board slot.

CPU - Processors are plug-able. Therefore, processor modules can be swapped as needed without changing the system board. If less than maximum boards were originally installed, the system can have boards added as need
