CCNY Recognized as Network Security Leader

CCNY (Computer Connection of NY) Cosby Manor Road in Utica, was chosen as the systems integrator for the recent wireless computer network project at the Susquehanna Valley Central High School in Conklin, NY.

CCNY, an industry leading independent provider of network security and efficiency products, teamed-up with Aruba Networks, a world leader in secure WLAN technology, to implement a secure wireless networking solution for the district. Don Gerlach, Susquehanna's I.T. director said that the wireless network has been "up and running throughout the current school year and has met or surpassed all expectations."

The Aruba Networks wireless solution provides secure (encrypted) wireless network access and is able to authenticate authorized users of the Susquehanna wireless network and deny access to those who are not authorized. It also allows `guest users' limited internet access through a guest portal. The Aruba Networks WLAN also is able to monitor wireless usage in accordance to CIPA (The Child Information Protection Act.) The WLAN solution also has the capability of using new `n draft technology. The `n draft solution allows greater bandwidth and speeds on the wireless network, previously unavailable in computer networking.

CCNY and Aruba Networks engineers implemented the WLAN earlier in the 2008-2009 school year.
